Saatchi Gallery: Tour and Talk

Thursday 16th September

Tour begins at 7pm

Ipswich Art School

Join Emma Roodhouse, Art Curator at Colchester and Ipswich Museums for an Informal evening tour around the Saatchi exhibition at Ipswich Art School on Thursday 16th September at 7pm.

From the Saatchi Gallery, works by seven artists are on display at Ipswich Art School.  Alexandra Bircken + Thomas Houseago + Matthew Monahan + Will Ryman, Francis Upritchard + Rebecca Warren + Andy Yoder

There will be the chance for you to hear how the displays were put together and plans for future projectsat the Art School. You will also learn about other works of art that the artists have created and discuss how the contemporary art scene has been shaped by the Saatchi Gallery.

There will be the opportunity after the tour to carry on the discussion in the best tradition at a local pub!

Emma Roodhouse, Art Curator at Colchester and Ipswich Museums said, “'This is a major loan exhibition for Ipswich and I always enjoy being able to get people's thoughts and feedback on our displays. So it will be good to talk about how we put exhibitions like this together but also to find out what people think. I will also be bringing a few surprises to bring the exhibition even more to life!”

These art works have never been shown together before. All are sculptural using unexpected materials from liquorice to scraps of wool. The artists play with the idea of size so everyday objects become larger than life.

The tour starts at 7pm at Ipswich Art School, Ipswich.  The tour is £3.00 per person; drinks at the pub are not included.  Places must be booked in advance by calling 01473 433691 or by dropping into Christchurch Mansion, Ipswich.
