Sheffield Doc/Fest is thrilled to announce that Rolf Harris will attend the festival on Sunday 7 November to join the very first audience for a sneak preview of the work-in-progress of Vikram Jayanti’s latest film for BBC, Arena: Rolf Harris Paints His Dream (UK 2010).
Multi award winning director Vikram Jayanti captures 80-year-old Rolf Harris at work on his latest project – something so extraordinary that we cannot reveal what it is. As Jayanti follows each brushstroke of Rolf's latest surprise – to that legendary point where he turns to ask us "Can you tell what it is yet?" - we'll find ourselves travelling in time and space through Rolf's iconic career on three continents, and marvelling that they just don't make 'em like that anymore.
Rolf Harris Paints His Dream is the third in a trilogy of films Jayanti has made about extraordinary cultural individuals for Arena, each one working with 9-time BAFTA winning Arena editor Anthony Wall as co-producer. James Ellroy’s Feast of Death (2001) and The Agony and The Ecstasy of Phil Spector (2008) both won R.T.S. awards for Best Arts Documentary.
This Sheffield Doc/Fest screening on Sunday 7 November at 4pm will be the first time that Rolf Harris actually sees a rough cut of Vikram Jayanti’s film, and the pair will come together on stage after the screening to discuss!
