Stockholm-Lima will be hosting the first annual Platffôrm exhibition next month, providing ‘a place and means for creative expression and innovation for a new wave of fashion, film, photography, art and music.’
This unique exhibition will be held in the Capitol Centre in Cardiff from Friday 3rd June through to Monday 6th June 2011, transforming a former retail store into a creative Platffôrm for emerging designers and artists.
Contemporary art agency Mermaid and Monster will be exhibiting a range of work by various emerging and established artists alongside fashion collections by up and coming new designers. Graduates of the BA (hons) Fashion Design and the BA (hons) Fashion Promotion at Cardiff School of Creative & Cultural Industries (CCI) will be showcasing their final collections and projects through a variety of media, including photography, film, and web-based exhibits.
Celebrated fashion designer Jayne Pierson, who is involved in staging the event said, “I’m so pleased to be involved with this exciting project. The variety and quality of the work being exhibited is truly remarkable and the launch event will be a real celebration of that.”
Tracy Pritchard, Head of Fashion & Retail at CCI, whose graduating students are participating in the show said, “The range of creative talent on display here is so encouraging and the event serves to highlight just how much potential there is for establishing fashion as a viable commercial industry within Wales.”
The Private View begins at 7pm (press previews from 5pm) with performance art, DJ’s and live music. A limited edition range of one-off customised t-shirts will be available to purchase on the night. Attendees to the launch event will include over 300 journalists, celebrities, artists, designers, retailers, musicians and professionals from the creative industries.
The exhibition opens to the public on Saturday 4th June through to Monday 6th June and opening hours are 9am to 6pm on Saturday and Monday and 11am to 5pm on Sunday. Admission is free.
