Performance Art in York

An International programme of performance art visionaries will present new live art work in York for four events entitled Action Art Now. Ran by York-based artists Victoria Gray and Nathan Walker, O U I Performance is a not-for-profit arts organisation who have been putting on performance art in York since 2010.

Action Art Now is supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England and brings together 16 national and international artists for events in October, November and December 2011 and February 2012 . At the first event artists Eva Barto (France), Angela Bartram Mary O'Neill (UK), Maurice Blok (Netherlands) and Hugh O'Donnell (Northern Ireland) will show new performances for an evening of exhilarating art action on Saturday 8th October at Walmgate's Space 109 Community Arts.

The following events will show work by artists from Yorkshire and the UK alongside artists from Ireland, Portugal and Brazil. Many of these artists are making their debut performance in the UK, O U I Performance explain:

“Action Art Now is a unique programme of the most exciting and innovative performance artists working today, presenting these artists in York is a welcomed development for the city whose contemporary artists often find it difficult to find non-commercial spaces to show their work. We are working with the wonderful community venue Space 109 which is dedicated to broadening the city's cultural activities and making these activities accessible to everyone”

All Events start at 6pm and are £2 on the door, or Free to Walmgate Residents. More information can be found on the O U I Performance website: www.ouiperformance.org.uk
