Music businesses in the Belfast City Council area are being given the chance to showcase their talents on the international stage. Belfast City Council is inviting local businesses to apply for places at the prestigious international South By Southwest music industry event in Texas next March.
Up to 15 businesses will be able to attend next year`s 25th anniversary event – probably the most prestigious of its kind in the world.
“South By Southwest is the biggest and most anticipated gathering of all things music, and Belfast City Council aims to capitalize on this by helping local music businesses make the most of the opportunities it presents,” commented Councillor Conor Maskey, chairman of the council`s Development Committee.
The council is working alongside FFWDNI to take 15 local businesses to SXSW 2011. Six of the companies will be directly supported by FFWDNI, and details of how to avail of this support can be found at www.ffwdni.com/marketing.
The remaining nine companies will be supported by Belfast City Council, pending confirmation of additional funding. Application forms can be downloaded from www.belfastcity.gov.uk/sxsw with the deadline being 12 noon on Friday 19 November.
