Tonight (7t December) ‘Marilyn Monroe’ will be the guest at the QUAD Shorts Premiere ‘red carpet’ night at the venue. The star will be at the premiere screening of the five films made by the winners of the QUAD Shorts film Commission.
QUAD Shorts Commission was open to new and emerging film local and regional makers in the early stages of their career. The winners were given a production budget of up to £3,000 to make their film and a package of support and development including an assigned mentor and producer for each film. The overall theme was ‘Heartland Archive’, reflecting the collection of films from the region in the BFI Mediatheque at QUAD.
Special guests at the QUAD Shorts Premiere Night include Debbie Williams, Director of EM Media. There will be introductions by the filmmakers prior to a screening of each of their films.
The five short films which will be screened are:
‘This Side Of The After Life’ by Adam & Joe Horton
‘Archive’ by Liam Sharp & Joe Barcham
‘A Shining Light’ by Luke Smith
‘The Birthday Cake’ by Esther Richardson
‘Good Men of Leicester’ by Al MacKay & Neale Craston
QUAD Shorts commission was set up to support and develop a thriving community of film makers in the East Midlands by commissioning new work to develop skills and talent to sustain their future development. QUAD Shorts are supported by EM Media and Esmée Fairbairn Foundation. QUAD Shorts is part of EM Media’s strategy for talent development. EM Media seeks to ensure that the regional skills base is developed with opportunities for talent to develop at all levels.
QUAD Shorts Premiere Night will take place tonight (Tuesday 7th December) from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.
