From 3rd – 28th May 2011, an exhibition of new works by artist Jessica Zoob, entitled Adrenalin, will be on view in The Great Room at 1508 in Howick Place, London. Adrenalin is Jessica Zoob’s most ambitious collection yet, produced on a lavish scale that pushes her distinctive technique to a ground-breaking new level.
A modern impressionist, Jessica Zoob’s paintings are a juxtaposition of scale and intricacy, the depth of which unfolds gracefully before the viewer. In the thickly coated glistening weight of paint that has been carefully applied, layer upon shimmering layer, the paintings come to life and move beneath the human gaze.
“Adrenalin is the ideal installation for the launch of The Great Room, 1508’s unique in-house gallery space. Imagination and daring are at the heart of 1508 London and Zoob’s bold work embodies the complexity and vastness of the human imagination,” comments Alex de Blonay of 1508 London.
Following on from a successful solo show at the Medici Gallery in 2010, Adrenalin is Zoob’s 15th collection and pushes the boundaries of her previous work in both scale and complexity. The exhibition is an assembly of work of astounding impact and innovation.
“For me the excitement of Adrenalin is the opportunity to work on such an extravagant scale. It is thrilling to be able to explore my technique and to see the work unfold in a way, which so far I have only been able to imagine. With the Great Room, 1508 London has given me a huge blank canvas on which to let my imagination run riot.” explains Zoob.
Works within the collection are entitled Anticipation, Contemplation and Exhilaration. They range in scale from 76 x 102 cm to the epic Exhilaration a story in 5 parts and about 10 metres long.
