Déda in Derby has launched a number of new classes to keep you moving and having fun this Autumn. New classes for children and young people include Beginners Ballet – without the need to invest in expensive ballet shoes.
The Déda|Academy already has a huge array of classes for young people, with classes starting for little ones as young as 6 months. New additions to the curriculum include ballet, more breakin’ and street, dance and drama, plus brand new performance company Reactor.
Clare Limb, Dance Development Manager at Déda says: “We listened to our class attenders when they asked for more technique classes for young people on a Saturday, in addition to our regular creative programme. We’ve added Ballet Beginners (7-11 years), BreakBeatz Kids and Streetdance Kids (4-7 years) and Breakbeatz Beginners and Streetdance Beginners (7-11 years) to our Saturday schedule.”
Priced at just £3.50, these classes are drop-in so children don’t need to commit to a whole term. Classes are fun and friendly – just bring comfortable clothes, trainers for Streetdance and Breakbeatz and a bottle of water.
Clare Limb has this message for potential ballerinas: “If you fancy trying ballet, but you’re not sure whether to invest in your first pair of ballet shoes, you can come along and have a go in bare feet. We don’t ask you to buy any uniform or specialist dancewear – dance at Déda is all about having a great time!”
Ballet tutor Alice says: “I’m really excited to teach the new ballet classes and can’t wait to get started. The classes are really fun and friendly and are an excellent place to start for children interested in ballet.”
Brand new Youth Performance company Reactor will use Street, Breakin’ and Urban dance styles to create high energy dance pieces working towards performance opportunities regionally and nationally. The company requires hard work and commitment, so anyone interested should pick up an enrolment form from the Déda Box Office or visit www.deda.uk.com/academy.
Déda has also added Dance and Drama to the Saturday class programme. This is an inclusive class suitable for young people with additional needs or for those young people who want to add some drama to their Saturday.
The adult class programme has also been revitalised. Popular Broadway Beatz has moved to a Monday, so dancers can now combine Street Dance with moves from stage and screen for the perfect evening of fun and fitness.
People who enjoy Déda’s popular Pilates classes can take their sculpting and toning further with the new Advanced Pilates session (Monday evenings).
Déda currently offers 59 classes every week in a range of different styles and techniques. If you’ve ever thought about learning a new dance style, are looking for an alternative way to meet new friends or want to get into shape without hitting the treadmill visit www.deda.uk.com to have a look through our packed class programme.
