The Creative Foundation is launching the Folkestone Arts, Crafts & Food Fair on Sunday 2nd May 2010.
The new Fair will take place on the first Sunday of every month at the harbour square site from 10am to 4pm. Folkstone is continuing to be a growing creative area and the event will add to the popularity of Folkestones creative quarter. The Fair is being run on a not for profit basis but rather to attract more people to the area and help the community. The event has received a good amount of support from local people, councillors and businesses in the area and is set to become a very popular event.
Lucy Gradidge, organiser of the Fair from the Creative Foundation said, “The Fair will have a strong emphasis on quality goods, local crafts and delicious produce from local businesses; we want to celebrate all of the things that are good about Folkestone and the surrounding area. We are determined to make the fair a great place for local residents and newcomers to visit.”
“We are happy to take applications for stalls from all creative and food businesses in the area. For example if a local restaurant is interested in providing special tasters to promote their food offering, we would be happy to welcome them alongside local arts and crafts people.”
On the intervening Sundays there will be live music, entertainment and other activities taking place on the harbour square.
Markets will take place on the following dates:
· Sunday 2nd May – 10am to 4pm · Sunday 6th June – 10am to 4pm · Sunday 4th July – 10am to 4pm · Sunday 1st August – 10am to 4pm · Sunday 5th September – 10am to 4pm · Sunday 3rd October – 10am to 4pm
There will around 20-25 stalls held by different craft people, artists and food producers and will provide a platform for local people to promote their wares and also to encourage people to attend the event and re-engage with the Folkestone Harbour area and Old Town (which is currently undergoing an arts-led regeneration managed by the Creative Foundation – www.creativefoundation.org.uk). Some of the stalls confirmed are Momo House Nepalese Kitchen, Diva Treats and local artist John Sims.
Stalls will be allocated on an application basis, if you are interested in applying for a stall please contact lucy@creativefoundation.org.uk or call 01303 245799
