Eskimo Creative launches design event

Award-winning design agency Eskimo Creative has created a two-fold event ‘Print, Digital and Experiential: A Celebration of Design Culture’ to be held on Thursday, November 3 at Oxford Place, Manchester.

Fresh from winning a Silver Roses Design Award for its work on Manchester Design Symposium, Eskimo is hosting a day in celebration of design built around its exhibition of GF Smith’s ‘126 years of print’: a showcase of the company’s impact and influence on the success of graphic design in the last century.

First up will be a daytime viewing for 100 students from Salford University, Shillington College, and Staffordshire University followed by a lecture and workshop on design career hints, tips and lessons learnt by Eskimo. The agenda will be determined in advance following social media engagement via Twitter (@eskimocreative) to find out what students want and need to know about how to kick-start their future career in the competitive design industry.

The evening event is an invitation only showing for selected creative industry professionals which will also include an exhibition of photography from a new Eskimo Creative book shot by Percy Dean at GF Smith, plus a Northern Digitals BLAB Mini speakers session on the subject of inspiration and featuring talks from northern creatives Natasha Wilcocks, James Gilbert, Matt Kendall, Percy Dean and James OConnell.

Both events will documented and published via the new newly launched eskimocreative.com and Twitter (@eskimocreative) by the Eskimo team and appointed Salford University student representative Emma Lee. Offering the opportunity for students and designers to follow the discussion, comment and also ask questions using the hashtags #askeskimo

Eskimo Creative Directors Mark Janson and John Owens comment: "We’re delighted to be hosting the GF Smith Heritage Exhibition as we’re dedicated fans of print and of their paper.

"However we wanted use the opportunity to work with and inspire Manchester’s design students on taking their first creative career steps, plus bring the design community together to talk about what inspires and motivates them. This event does all that and more and we can’t wait to bring it to life."

In conjunction with the event Eskimo Creative has designed a limited edition bespoke and collectable invitation produced by GF smith; limited edition screen-printed posters and a limited edition photography book. The event also has a dedicated micro website.

The event is hosted in partnership with Bruntwood, GF Smith, Paragon Print, Percy Dean Photography and One69a Screen Printers.
