Dr Sketchy Edinburgh’s Anti-Art School: Beach Buoys The Jazz Bar 1A Chambers Street

Sunday 6th June from 3pm–6pm £7/6

Dr Sketchy’s was born in a little cafe in New York in 2005, by illustrator, performer, author and general bon vivant Molly Crabapple. Three years later and it’s a world wide phenomenon; 50 branches in eleven countries, four continents with no signs of slowing.

Its aim is to put the fun back into life-drawing, with a wink, smile and a well placed nipple tassle. Each month a burlesque model or circus performer ascends the stage in a fabulous costume and strikes various poses for the audience to sketch. All levels of skill are welcome; the serious students can concentrate on producing a masterpiece, whilst the rest of us plunge through a few surreal exercises, enjoying the drinks, dames, dudes and doodling.

To celebrate the arrival of warm breezes and iced drinks, Dr Sketchy's are throwing a good ole fashioned Hawaiian luau, complete with summer tunes and sexy swimming outfits in the Dr Sketchy Edinburgh: Beach Buoys special: We have scoured the earth (not The Earth, just some dirt around Scotland) for a refreshing and tasty treat for our summer celebration . . . and spank us with a frisbee if we haven’t found the very thing. He’s sexy, he’s sassy (and he’s Scottish) - the sizzling Sparky Strange will be treating us to a World Premier performance as a Beach Buoy! But . . . steady yourselves . . . because we don’t just have one fabulous boylesquer (Homo sapiens boylesquious), oh no. Joining Mr Strange on stage and creating their own little surfin’ safari will be the eye catching Wicked McElders! Two hunks in trunks. Could it get better? Does David Cameron look a bit wet? With the witty and charming Sian de Leer guiding you through the afternoon’s Anti-Art class, we are guaranteed to not leave a single heart unfluttered. What a way to kick-start the summer lovin’! Plus we have cough a, er, lovely bunch of coconuts and a pineapple ukulele to award to winning Sketchettes.

Tickets are available via the website and on the door – but, as always, seats are first come, first served!
