Artrepublic is to release a limited edition print of Liverpool artist Dave White’s iconic Eagle painting through its Soho gallery, on Thursday 28th July.
Taken from White’s acclaimed Americana series, Eagle will be produced in a standard edition (83x73cm on aquarelle, £500), and in an edition to be hand finished in gold leaf by the artist (127x112cm on Somerset, £1500). Both editions will be available exclusively through artrepublic.
Dave White commented; “My aim with this work was to capture powerful dynamism and movement, whilst paying homage to subject’s grace and beauty. There is a fine balance between expressive interpretation and creating a work that befits the subject matter. This is notable in the original watercolour of the Eagle, where chaotic expression and fluidity are juxtaposed with precision and delicacy. The release of this limited edition with artrepublic, reproduces the original work in stunning quality. Every brush stoke and delicate watermark is detailed and the overall sense of scale and power is translated into a bespoke edition.”
Sam Rhodes of artrepublic Soho said; “We are delighted to be working so closely on this project with Dave White, an exceptionally talented British artist who has earned a truly international reputation. The sheer quality and finish of his work, and how it translates into print, has been paramount for this release.”
Born (and based) in Liverpool and having studied Fine Art at Liverpool University (in John Lennon’s old studio), Dave White has enjoyed success from the early inception of his career with his vigorously energetic brand of contemporary Pop Art. Awarded ‘Best New Talent’ in Visual Art and short listed for various prizes, his unique painting style caught the eye of the Curator of Tate Liverpool as early as 1991.
