Contemporary Art Exhibition at St Margaret's Bay - Dover 27th March - 30th September

There is to be an exhibition of contemporary art within the grounds of Wallett's Court Country House Hotel at St Margaret's Bay, Dover.

The exhibition will include visually striking outdoor exhibits and installations inspired by and created along Kent's coast.

People are invited to meet the artists and exercise their own creative skills at workshops during a special free preview of the show on Saturday, March 27.

The artists include David Finlay, Lucie Flynn, Martine Caddick, Mike Teddar, Damian Wurst, Liz Finlay, Mel Mishkin and Rory Martin.

Gavin Oakley, of Wallett's Court, said the region was fast developing a reputation as 'Kent's Creative Coast' and the exhibition would provide a great showcase for the talents of the local artists. He said: "St Margaret's has long attracted and fostered a strong creative flair among its residents and visitors. From late Victorian times the area has developed as a retreat for a host of literary and artistic greats.

"Among those who have stayed or lived here include Lord Byron, Sir Henry Maximilian Beerbohm, Noel Coward, Ian Fleming, Marie Corelli and Peter Ustinov. For the first time we are throwing the doors of the hotel open to show off some fine contemporary art. We are very excited to be involved."

The exhibition is part of Kent's Big Day Out, held annually to promote the county's attractions.

It is free and can be viewed daily from 9am to 9pm from 27th March until September 30.
