Axolotl Gallery present a new exhibition of work from Sarah Wilson.
Following Wilson’s well received installation Transferable Memories, shown earlier this year, she returns with a series of new figurative prints, Jigsaw Woodcuts. Influenced by Billy Childish in style and with various references to other major modern artists in content, she presents a series of dynamic, stark, arresting images.
Of the process Sarah says, 'As a notorious hoarder I have kept all my paintings and sketches from my portfolios dating back to 2002, rather than throw out the least favourites I chose to rework them by using each piece as part of a background to print my woodcuts on. Each print is unique, two may join together to show a ghostly image of a nude or still life.'
The exhibition opens on Saturday 12th June at 1pm and will run until 3rd July.
