On 13th May a ground breaking Exhibition opened at the Qube in Oswestry, Shropshire. The Exhibition brings together four very different people with different backgrounds. It cleverly shows not only their individual skills, but more than that, shows a truly unique and multifaceted collaboration of talents and brings them together beautifully in carefully hand-picked central pieces based on the theme of four seasons.
The artists involved are: Jude Robinson, Sammy-Jane Frost, Pam Dodd and Phil Barrett. This is the first Exhibition for all but one. All artists have come from different backgrounds and taken different journeys to get to where they are today and it’s been my privilege to get to know a few of them and of course enjoy the exhibition myself. So as not to spoil the whole thing, I’ve just popped together a snippet about each of the artists, it’s now up to you to explore for yourself.
Jude Robinson
An impressionist artist specialising in oils and takes her inspiration from the local countryside. Her particular passion is for landscapes and skies.
Sammy-Jane Frost
Sammy is a children’s illustrator with a truly inimitable style who graduated from Glyndwr University in 2010. During her last year at University, Sammy-Jane attended [New Designers in London] (http://www.newdesigners.com/), where she got to show her work to the public and to publishers. Her work attracted a lot of interest from the public and from publishers.
Pam Dodd
Pam is a self-taught contemporary jeweller who draws inspiration from the natural landscape. She likes to use natural products in her pieces including a lot of high grade semi-precious gemstones along with Thai and precious metal clay silver. Pam says, “Uniqueness is the most important part of what I do”.
Phil Barrett
Phil is a local artist and photographer with many years’ experience producing commercial illustrations for international companies. Phil operates under PB Artworks a freelance photographic and illustration company that fuses all his complementary skills into stunning images. Phil says, “he tries to looks beyond the two dimensional imagery into a more ‘soulful’ image.
If you have the pleasure of going along to the 4 Artsake Exhibition you’ll experience for yourself the wonderful melding of artistic mediums and creative forces. We’re all different, enjoy different things and there’s truly a cornucopia of both visual and tactile imagery to tantalise you.
The large collaborative piece "Sometimes ..." is open to a Secret Bid and all profits go to Hope House and Severn Hospice. Bidding closes on the 11th June.
