Maggie Fox and Sue Ryding pays Lipservice to the New Wolsey's new season
When I received an email from Lipservice to announce that they were returning to Suffolk, and not just Suffolk but the New Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich nonetheless, I quite literary gave out an audible whoop! If you were fortunate enough to get your hands on a ticket for their latest tour of'Desperate to be Doris', then I'm pretty sure the news of their return to these parts got you whooping too. I missed Desperate to be Doris at the Wolsey but was lucky to lay my grubby little mitts on a couple of tickets for the run at the Theatre Royal in Bury St Edmunds. I quite simply have not laughed so much in years. It's take brilliant writing and a superb comic execution to make me chuckle but to induce the type of pant-wetting cracking up I endured during one of the campest productions I think I've ever seen - now I'm a friend of Bobby Crush, so that's saying something - takes some doing. Now Maggie Fox & Sue Ryding are winging their way back to Ipswich to present Lipservice's Best Bits. Described as some of the funniest scenes from the past 25 years of productions, the Best Bits include hilarious excerpts from Withering Looks, Move Over Moriarty, King Arthur and Knights of the Occasional Table and B-Road Movie! Horror for Wimps. Lipservice's Best Bits opens the season at the New Wolsey and Creative Boom Ipswich has been told that tickets are selling fast. If I was asked to recommend something to see in September to blow away any pre-Autumn blues then this has to be it. Click here to open the Wolsey Theatre website.
