Organised visits to Suffolk crafts people

The Friends of the Suffolk Craft Society has organised three studios visits to see Suffolk-based professional crafts people at work in their studios.

The first visit on 11th March will be to Phil Barnes who makes enamelled jewellery at his studio in Yoxford. Phil designs and produces his own work and undertakes commissions as a freelance enameller, working for various designer jewellers, goldsmiths and silversmiths.

The second visit on 15th April will be to ceramicist Ursula Rubens in Ipswich. Ursula creates unique, hand built, smoke fired, sculptural vessels, inspired by Greek landscape and architecture. Birds, trees, skies and land emerge out of clay slips, pigments and fire!

The third visit of the year will be to print maker and illustrator Clare Curtis in Felixstowe on 13th May. Clare is inspired by the coastline where she lives. She uses traditional materials such as lino, wood and cardboard, with different papers and hand burnishing techniques to create subtle textures.

Each studio visit is only £3 per person and runs from 2-4pm. To book your place contact Gallery 2 on 01473 432865 or development@suffolkcraftsociety.com.
