Members of the Suffolk Craft Society have made Christmas trees from wood, textiles, metal, glass and ceramics which now set the scene for the Suffolk Craft Society’s Christmas Exhibition, titled The Magical Forest, in Gallery 2 at the Town Hall Galleries. Shoppers and visitors are transported to a magical festive wonderland!

In the Magical Forest you will find the Suffolk Craft Society members’ most recent craft work on display, alongside their special seasonal favourites. Everything in Gallery 2, from handmade Christmas decorations to fine jewellery and ceramics is made entirely by professional crafts people in Suffolk, and it’s all for sale. Prices vary from just a few pounds to a few hundred pounds. This is the 6th year running that the Suffolk Craft Society’s Christmas exhibition has been held in Ipswich at the Town Hall Galleries.

The keen eyed amongst you will find some 2ft high, white, wooden Christmas trees in other venues around town. These have been made by the carpenters at Genesis (part of Orwell Mencap). Ten partner venues, all public and arts venues will have one of these trees on display until 20th December as part of the Ipswich Christmas Tree Trail.

It is free to take part in the trail. It starts at the Tourist Information Centre on St Stephens Lane who have tree number 1 and they have the entry forms. Forms can also be downloaded from www.suffolkcraftsociety.com or collected from any of the 10 participating venues. Completed forms with information collected from each tree on the trail can be submitted at Gallery 2 at the Town Hall Galleries by 17th December to enter the draw for the chance to win a £100 gift voucher to spend in the Magical Forest exhibition.

Admission to the Town Hall Galleries is always free and they are open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm, all year round. The Magical Forest is open until 24th December 2011.
