Michael Clark dance company at Curve
Michael Clark Company returns to Curve with the latest instalment of his critically acclaimed dance production made primarily to the music of David Bowie - come, been and gone.
The piece also embraces the work of key collaborators - Lou Reed and Brian Eno - and touches on some of his influences – including Kraftwerk amongst others.
'come, been and gone' arrives in Leicester following sold out performances in Glasgow, Edinburgh, London, Venice, Melbourne and Berlin.
"Rock is my rock. It has been vital to me at a personal level; it has shaped me as an individual as well as an artist" Michael Clark.
Widely regarded as one of Britain’s leading choreographers, Clark’s work seamlessly crosses the boundaries between worlds of classical ballet, contemporary dance, fashion, music and visual art.
A ‘compulsive rebel,’ known for his dramatic ballet pieces, Clark was the 80s enfant terrible whose work inspired by his 70s idols David Bowie, Iggy Pop and Lou Reed combines his classical integrity with a more complex, contemporary sensibility embracing virtue and vice, abandon and control, grace and embarrassment. He is renowned for his legendary collaborations with bands, fashion designers and visual artists including Wire, BodyMap, Leigh Bowery, Trojan and Sarah Lucas.
'come, been and gone' features original lighting design by long term collaborator, the filmmaker and lighting designer Charles Atlas, who’s recent work away from the company includes a live video mix/music collaboration with Antony and the Johnsons.
