Anne Murray
Anne is a ceramic designer and maker that lives in Scotland. She works in a spontaneous and free way with porcelain and stoneware; attracted to topics that challenge the ideas of perfection and uniformity. Through subtlety and quirkiness her practice focuses on collaborating and engaging with others and developing and making work that aims to nurture, share, celebrate and enhance everyday lives and rituals.
Her work includes generously proportioned planters, tea pots and accompanying ceramics inspired by the rusty old tin cans and objects that are often found in sheds, workshops, allotments and on waste ground.
Although her work is rooted in overlooked and forgotten landscapes she aims to celebrate these unique and unwanted objects through the character and form in her work and transform them into our contemporary world.
Anne has a BA Hons in Ceramics and Three Dimensional Design, is a Winston Churchill Fellow and a Licentiate Member of the Society of Designer Craftsmen.
