Hi, my name's Katy Cowan and welcome to Creative Boom - a national online magazine that aims to celebrate, inspire and support the creative industries throughout the UK and the rest of the world, including everything from music, design and fashion to film, photography and writing.
Whilst bumbling around on Twitter in early 2009, I realised I wasn't the only one out there looking for an online resource where I could network, share ideas and find out about everything that’s happening in the creative world.
So in July 2009, I created Creative Boom, along with husband Tom, to hopefully support creative individuals, freelancers and businesses of all shapes and sizes. Since then, the site has grown significantly and now gets over 2,600 visits per day and over 225,000 hits per month. We run the entire site in our spare time and never anticipated it becoming so popular, so thanks for all your ongoing support.
Unlike some newspapers, magazines, trade publications and online media, we try to write about everyone, no matter how big or small. After all, Creative Boom is all about supporting creativity, particularly when times are tough.
So whether you're into film, photography, music, public relations, design, web and software development, arts and crafts, marketing, animation or fashion - we'll try to bring you all the latest news, events and information relevant to your creative sector, effectively creating a Creative Boom.
On 1st November 2009, Creative Boom became a whole lot bigger and went live with its new Creative Boom Hubs - regional creative magazines that include their own local news, events, features, lookbooks and opportunities. You can become a contributor or start your own regional creative e-zine. Just get in touch and let us know you're interested. We're particularly interested in helping freelancers or smaller businesses.
